Tower of Hell
It really is Hell... In a good way!
Genre: Obby

The Tower of Hell is a Roblox game created by YXCeptional Studios. It has over 2.8 billion visits with 849K likes and 350k dislikes. The game is a vertical obby in which players must traverse sections each with their own obstacles. There are no checkpoints in each section and one must complete the entire tower within a set amount of time. If one makes it onto the top past the six sections, the timer will speed up increasing as more complete it. Once the timer has finished, the tower resets all layers and will randomly generate new stages.

Why It Rocks

  1. These obby stages are more intense than what other obbies do, many of these stages have very small platforms and sometimes may have a kill brick hovering above. These stages put more emphasis on shift-locking movement, timing and jump controlling while having their own unique design.
  2. The concept of an obby that generated random sections is very fresh idea and innovative at the time, and still is as it has lots of challenging possibilities that appeal to those who want to have a better challenge.
  3. The vertical layout creates a lot of challenge and tension as slipping up can make you start over and there is ways you can save yourself if you are lucky, unlike most obbies with a bottomless pit. The fact that it has no checkpoints encourages players to be cautious and putting players on a time limit also gives them more pressure to climb up the sections is what makes this game so addicting and fun to play.
  4. Some of the obstacles can be a moving platform, conveyors or swinging platforms, something most obbies don't do.
  5. You are able to collect coins in which you can use them to buy perks and gears. These items make it easier to navigate through the obstacles.
  6. If you need more challenge, there is a pro mode of this which you can access (entrance located in the base of the tower). Pro towers have twice the length but reward you with more coins.
  7. There exists a version of this game where you can play all 169 sections in one tower.

Bad Qualities

  1. Sometimes the generation can mess with the end of some sections which make it unintentionally harder to get to the next stage.
  2. Some of the buyable perks can interfere with the run. Bunny hopping, high speed and low gravity are examples of this (they give the effect to everyone in the server).
  3. While not necessary for general playing, enabling shift-lock is a must for speedrunners, which some players can't use depending on the platform they use. Also, enabling shift-lock can however cause the camera to clip through the walls of the tower, eventually hiding all the platforms to the speedrunner.
  4. Some obbies could cause the player to rage and quit.

Trivia

  • Due to it's popularity, most people assume that it's the hardest and the best obby on roblox and shuns the tiered obby community and the Juke's Towers of Hell community. this is ironic as JToH was Tower of Hell's sister game, being both originally created by VulpineDigital.
